“Halusanation” is a 2020 prog rock album by Artist Dax Martinez-Vargas.

Listeners travel through an aural landscape of prog rock music, singer/songwriter Dax Martinez-Vargas guides listeners along a dynamic and eclectic journey through an ever changing world in crisis where, “We can’t breathe, so we scream” to a place of inner peace and awakening. 

Different dimensions of rock music work together to tell a story of the human struggle against tyranny of external and internal forces as it explores themes of resistance, trauma, healing, enlightenment, revolt and serenity in 16 tracks. 

The album cover was created in collaboration with U.K. artist Hannaj Bang Bendz. Dax saw the vision for the cover during an ayahuasca ceremony the March 6th weekend right before the pandemic. While it wasn’t in the detail you see here, it was enough to start moving in this direction.

After Dax had released this album in 2020, he decided to use the themes of the album as a foundation to create a podcast and invite guests to talk about topics that inspired Dax to write the album. Naturally, Dax fuses music from the album, sometimes just stems from the songs, as well as the early demos, b-sides, new music and music from featured artists. The overall experience is more ambient and rich than the standard dry podcast.

After setting a tone with the first few, Dax filmed his first one at the end of 2020 through the start of 2021 with a veteran living in Texas named Chad Hale. Part 1 of that interview has been released, with part 2 & 3 to be out by mid-August.
